Target audience for my magazine 2
My ideal target audience would be both genders, aged 15-19.
The girl in the picture below is a good example of who I believe would read this magazine. She is 17 years old, wears reasonably fashionable clothes, has a full face of make up on everywhere she goes, including false eyelashes, wears light jewellery and carries around a beautiful smile.
The boy in this picture is also a good example of who I believe would read this magazine. He is 19 years old, wears fashionable clothes; brands like Calvin Klein, Gio gio, ect.
The Hobbies and interests she has are, listening to pop and R&B/Rap music, listens to artists such as: Justin Bieber, Cher Lloyd, N-Dubz, Eminem etc. She also has a guilty pleasure of artists like: Tyga and Busta Rhymes. Other hobbies of hers include, going to gigs, tours and festivals, going on nights out with friends, watching horror/comedy/action movies, supports Tottenham Hotspur football club, and regularly goes to their matches, social networking and going on her Xbox.

The hobbies and interests he has are: social networking, listening to types of artists such as: Eminem, 50 cent, Tyga, Wiz Khalifa, ect. He also has guilty pleasure of artists like: Taylor Swift and occasionally enjoys listening to a bit of Justin Bieber. He Supports Man United football club, enjoys going to their matches, likes watching violent and action movies, enjoys nights out with friends, goes to the gym regularly and can't live without his Xbox.
Her ideal holiday would be somewhere hot where she can sunbathe and go out to the beach everyday, like Miami or Spain. She prefers going on holiday with her friends than family. She likes staying in a luxury 5 star hotel and prefers staying in than going out.
His ideal holiday would be somewhere crowded and where everything is open at night, as he prefers going out than staying in. This would be somewhere like New your or Madrid. He prefers to go on holiday with his friends than his family, so he can stay out late rather than staying in with his family.

Pixlr edited images
In our lesson today, we used Pixlr to edit photos of bands. We used layers to edit them creating a whole new image. I did this by firstly turning the layer of the image black and white; then used the rubber tool and a range of other editing tools to create three brand new, unique images shown below.

History and info of We love pop magazine
This was the first 'We love pop' magazine released, already containing huge stars like One Direction and Rihanna on the front cover. |
Egmont Publishing Group is to buck the trend in the teen media market with the launch of We Love Pop, a new monthly pop magazine aimed at teen girls, more than five years after Smash Hits folded. The first issue of that magazine was released Wednesday 20th July 2011.
It was said that 'We love pop' magazine sold 119,000 copies of the launch edition of the title, which was created to fulfill the appetite for the blossoming pop music market among 13-15-year-old girls. This figure, however, comes from closed wholesale figures rather than the industry standard ABC.
It was also said that it had also experienced strong traffic across its online platform, including 55,000 unique users and 298,862 page views since launch. It also has more than 14,000 Facebook fans and over 2,000 Twitter followers.
"The focus that We Love Pop placed on launching a brand that utilises multi-platforms, along with our in-depth research, allows us to give the readers a truly integrated experience,"
The launch of We Love Pop in July was supported by an above-the-line marketing campaign, including bespoke point-of-sale activity with retailers Tesco, Asda, Co-op, Sainsbury's, Morrisons and WHS Travel.
The launch edition of the title was available for a one-off price of £1. From issue two, the cover price will be £2.99.
The typical reader of this magazine would be teenage girls, age 15-17, as this is what girls that age are into.
R&B/Rap magazine deconstruction
This magazine is simple but effective. There are three main colours: Black, white and green. These three colours could be seen as quite masculine. The black background is plain but overall goes well with this magazine as it allows both, the picture and the text to really stand out, attracting the readers eye and making them want to read the text around the magazine. It is good that some colour is used for the text as, one simple, plain colour would bore the reader and dis-attract them from the text and might just focus on the image.
The image on this magazine is a mid shot of the famous white rapper, Eminem, who is a big influence and inspiration to a lot of teenage boys. In this image he is staring into the camera, making it a lot more personal. This makes the reader feel as though they are being looked at and targeted, drawing them in to read further into the magazine and persuading them to buy it. As the image is a mid shot, it shows the reader what he is wearing and his body language. He is wearing a black, baggy jacket, with a black and grey top on underneath and you can see the top of his chain, that is hidden under his top. This shows that he isn't the sort of person who wears bright colours and suggests that he doesn't really show emotion very often and has too much pride, which is backed up by where his hand is placed.
The masthead of this magazine, which is white and again stands out with the black background, is half covered my the image , hiding the middle letters of the word 'Billboard'. This is incredibly effective as it makes the image appear as if the image is coming out of the magazine, gaining the readers attention more, making them want to buy it and feel closer to their idol.

According to http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2012/feb/16/music-magazines-suffer-sales-decline Uncut magazine lost 14.2% of circulation year-on-year in the second half of 2011 in a bad period for music magazines.
Q, NME and and Uncut suffered double-digit year-on-year sales declines in another torrid period for the music magazine sector in the second half of 2011.
Every magazine in the sector that reported a year-on-year comparison saw sales decline against the second half of 2010, according to the latest Audit Bureau of Circulations figures for the six months to December released on Thursday.
Uncut magazine was the biggest circulation faller among music magazines in the second half of 2011. The IPC Media title shed 14.2% of its circulation year-on-year and 5.6% compared to the first half of 2011, to 62,305.

Target audience/genre for my magazine
I have decided that the magazine I will be creating will be
a pop magazine, with a twist of R&B. This allows my target audience to
range from female and male aged 14-19. The types of artists that link to this
magazine are, Justin Bieber, Cher Lloyd, Eminem, N-Dubz etc. The magazine I
want to create would be along the lines of ‘Bliss’ and ‘We love pop’. I was
thinking about having my front cover cluttered with several images and previews
of what is included inside, as well as a few sell lines and fashion tips around
one large mid shot image of a teen pop sensation that would take up more than half
the magazine. This is more or less what a traditional pop magazine looks like.
