| This was the first 'We love pop' magazine released, already containing huge stars like One Direction and Rihanna on the front cover. |
Egmont Publishing Group is to buck the trend in the teen media market with the launch of We Love Pop, a new monthly pop magazine aimed at teen girls, more than five years after Smash Hits folded. The first issue of that magazine was released Wednesday 20th July 2011.
It was said that 'We love pop' magazine sold 119,000 copies of the launch edition of the title, which was created to fulfill the appetite for the blossoming pop music market among 13-15-year-old girls. This figure, however, comes from closed wholesale figures rather than the industry standard ABC.
It was also said that it had also experienced strong traffic across its online platform, including 55,000 unique users and 298,862 page views since launch. It also has more than 14,000 Facebook fans and over 2,000 Twitter followers.
"The focus that We Love Pop placed on launching a brand that utilises multi-platforms, along with our in-depth research, allows us to give the readers a truly integrated experience,"
The launch of We Love Pop in July was supported by an above-the-line marketing campaign, including bespoke point-of-sale activity with retailers Tesco, Asda, Co-op, Sainsbury's, Morrisons and WHS Travel.
The launch edition of the title was available for a one-off price of £1. From issue two, the cover price will be £2.99.
The typical reader of this magazine would be teenage girls, age 15-17, as this is what girls that age are into.
